What a client mod is

Discord's official app is a web application wrapped in a desktop shell, or a native app on phones. A client mod injects code into that app after it loads. Two consequences follow. First, a mod can only work with what the client has loaded, which is roughly what you can see on screen. Second, modifying the client is against Discord's Terms of Service. Vencord

The most active desktop mod at the moment. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, ships with a large built-in plugin set, and has a browser-extension build for the web app. It does not run on phones. Its plugin list is curated: plugins that automate the account (message spam, mass actions, anything a self-bot would do) are rejected on principle, which is why you will not find a member export in it. Vesktop

A standalone desktop app that bundles Vencord with its own Electron shell, aimed at people who want better screen sharing on Linux and a lighter client. Same plugin ecosystem, same platform limits, same rules.

BetterDiscord

The oldest desktop mod still in wide use, also Windows, macOS and Linux. Its plugin library is community-run and far looser than Vencord's, which is why member-export and message-logging plugins have existed for it over the years. They tend to break with every Discord update and are maintained by whoever picks them up next. If you have seen a video of someone exporting a member list from inside Discord, it was usually a BetterDiscord plugin, and usually one that no longer works.

Aliucord

The Android mod. It patches the Discord Android app, no root required, and has its own plugin store. It is pinned to an older version of the Discord app because that is what its patches target, so it lags behind official features. It is the answer to "Vencord on Android" more often than not.

BlueCord

Another Android modded client, distributed as its own installable app with theming and a set of quality-of-life features baked in rather than a plugin store. Popular with people who want a customised Discord on a phone without managing plugins. Like Aliucord, it is a rebuilt Discord app, which is the most direct kind of client modification.

WiseCord

Not a mod. It is a native Windows and macOS app with an Android build, and it does not touch the Discord client at all. You sign in with your Discord account inside WiseCord, pick servers you belong to, and it reads what your account can already see: the member list, joins as they happen, channel history. It writes that out to Excel or CSV and sends a push notification when someone new joins a watched server. It runs at a normal client pace and never posts or sends on your behalf.

Can a client mod export a member list?

Not in any dependable way. Vencord and Aliucord will not carry such a plugin. BetterDiscord has had several, and the pattern repeats: a plugin appears, works for a few months, Discord changes its front end, the plugin stops, the author moves on. When one does work it copies what is in the sidebar, which on large servers means only the members Discord happens to be showing, without join dates or account ages.

Both categories work outside the official client. The difference is what they do with that access. A client mod runs arbitrary plugin code inside your logged-in session, on every server, all the time; the risk scales with how many plugins you install and who wrote them.
